«Airat Gilayev has become world all-round belt wrestling champion»
The fourth World belt wrestling championship on 30 October finished in Kazan. The competition was participated by over 180 athletes from 43 countries. Airat Gilayev from Naberezhnye Chelny, a member of the Russian national team, has become the world all-round champion.
The Tatarstan team won 10 medals: 4 gold, 1 silver and 5 bronze. In the team classification the Russian national team was first, Tatarstan team - second, Uzbekistan - third.

The International Belt Wrestling Federation held a conference within the framework of the championship, attended by 40 representatives from across the world. Re-election of the federation's executive committee was held. Rif Gainanov (Russia) was named candidate for President of the International Belt Wrestling Federation and was unanimously approved by the conference delegates.

The executive committee was re-elected as well. The winners and awardees at the fourth belt wrestling championship were:

Men under 81 kg: 1. Reval Sadykov (Tatarstan) 2. Devai Bezuidenkhou (South African Republic) 3. Mirazyanov Mukhabar (Uzbekistan) and Misetskas Alghiris (Latvia)
Men under 90 kg: 1. Rinat Akbaev (Russia) 2. Jan Gregor (Slovakia) 3. Vladimir Zuikov (Tatarstan) and Carl Amolsow (France)

The all-round champion title was competed for by the champions in weight categories of under and over 90 kg in free style Rinat Akbaev (Russia) - Aidar Khairutdinov (Tatarstan) and Airat Gilayev (Russia) - Ramil Nurimanov (Russia). Akbaev defeated Khairutdinov on points while Airat Gilayev won the title due to the non-appearance of his opponent.
The all-round champion final saw Airat Gilayev and Rinat Akbayev. Putting down the opponent in merely a few seconds, Airat Gilayev from Naberezhnye Chelny won the all-round champion title.
