The veterans - long-livers who celebrated the birthdays in August – October medals were handed the medals "In memory of the 1000-anniversary of Kazan" by acting mayor Rais Mubarakzyanov in a building of the Kazan city hall.

In total it has been awarded 45 persons and participants of Great Patriotic war, the workers of rear and work veterans.

During the ceremony of rewarding Rais Mubarakzjanov told to elderly people about socially significant objects erected in the city within the framework of preparation for the 1000-anniversary of Kazan.

"In the course of preparation for Kazan anniversary we have managed to solve many social issues including a problem of dilapidated habitation, - he said.

By words of R. Muborakzyanov within the framework of implementing Presidential program for last 9 years in Kazan more than 33 thousand families had moved from worn-out houses to new apartments.
